James Sanders Likely to Play Against Lions, Albert Haynesworth's Status Still Uncertain Safety James Sanders tweeted Friday night that he’s ready to make his preseason debut Saturday against the Lions, and he eliminated the suspense over his uncertain playing status in the process.

Additionally, rookies Shane Vereen and Ras-I Dowling did not travel with the team and will not play, according to a source.

There are others to watch, though. Here’s a rundown of some players in question based on my opinion of their progress over the last week. (The Patriots do not label a player’s injury status prior to preseason games.)

Likely to Play:
Wide receiver Julian Edelman (missed last game)
Safety James Ihedigbo (signed last Friday)
Wide receiver Taylor Price (missed last game)
Safety James Sanders (missed both games)
Tight end Lee Smith (missed three practices this week)
Wide receiver Brandon Tate (missed last game)
Running back Danny Woodhead (injured last game, missed two practices this week)

Uncertain:
Safety Josh Barrett
Defensive lineman Shaun Ellis
Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth
Left tackle Matt Light

Unlikely to Play:
Cornerback Leigh Bodden
Defensive lineman Ron Brace
Offensive lineman Marcus Cannon
Linebacker Jermaine Cunningham
Defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick
Cornerback Ras-I Dowling
Running back Kevin Faulk
Linebacker Dane Fletcher
Running back Eric Kettani
Running back Stevan Ridley
Linebacker Brandon Spikes
Linebacker Jeff Tarpinian
Running back Shane Vereen
Offensive lineman Ryan Wendell
Cornerback Malcolm Williams
Defensive lineman Mike Wright
