All of Tim Tebow‘s genuflecting apparently was fully justified, because Jesus was directly responsible for all six of the streaking Broncos’ wins.
That’s according to Saturday Night Live which, let’s face it, is probably the authority on such matters.
Jesus, portrayed by cast member Jason Sudeikis, visited a set made up to look like the Broncos locker room on Saturday’s episode of SNL. He confronted Tebow, played by Taran Killam, who was celebrating another Broncos win.
“Here’s the thing,” Sudeikis/Jesus told the Broncos. “If we’re going to keep doing this, you guys gotta meet me halfway out there.
“Let’s face it. It’s not a good thing if every week, I, the son of God, have to come in, drop everything and bail out the Denver Broncos in the fourth quarter. I’m a busy guy.”
Rumors of a Tebow skit circulated earlier Saturday; just about anything involving his name generates hype. Tebow and the Broncos host the Patriots on Sunday afternoon.
In the skit, there seemed to be only one player Jesus hasn’t been helping out: Kicker Matt Prater, who kicked two field goals from more than 50 yards each in last Sunday’s win over Chicago.
“I pray to you, brother,” Sudeikis said.
“Wow, you pray to me?” said Andy Samberg, playing Prater. “I didn’t know that.”
“Well, that’s because I’m not in everyone’s face about it,” Sudeikis said, turning to look at Tebow.
Sudeikis also confirmed something New England fans have long suspected about their own seemingly divinely inspired quarterback.
“This doesn’t leave this room, OK?” Sudeikis said, “but if I’m the son of God, Tom Brady‘s gotta be the guy’s nephew. That guy’s a miracle worker, OK?”
Sudeikis/Jesus didn’t have such nice things to say about Bill Belichick, though. Check out the full skit in the Video of the Day below.
