Seemingly every season during his tenure as head coach of the San Diego Chargers, Norv Turner has faced questions of job security. Every season, it's all amounted to just talk — until now.
Turner and general manager A.J. Smith are likely to to fired at the end of the season, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. President Dean Spanos says he has "no choice" but to fire Turner, who has a record of 45-30 in his five seasons with the Chargers.
Spanos is reportedly still considering Smith's status, although league sources believe he will be fired.
The Chargers began the season 4-1 and were atop the AFC West. However, six straight losses and poor play from quarterback Philip Rivers have put the team in last place in the division.
