Report: Celtics' Pursuit of Ray Allen Put on Hold as Veteran Guard Visits Heat, ClippersDoc Rivers' belief that the Celtics will re-sign guard Ray Allen may start to be tested very soon.

NBA.com reports that the team has put its pursuit of the future Hall of Famer on hold, as Allen is reportedly set to visit the Heat and then the Clippers later this week. According to the report, Allen will meet with Miami on Thursday and Los Angeles on Friday.

The visit obviously doesn't mean that Allen won't be returning to Boston, but a handful of teams are interested in Allen's services, and both the Heat and the Clippers would make a lot of sense. Miami would obviously be enticing, given the chance to win an NBA title. However, the Heat can only offer a contract worth a little more than $3 million.

The Clippers, meanwhile, would likely use their midlevel exception on Allen, and they could offer the sharpshooter more playing time. That offer would give Allen $5 million.

The Celtics have reportedly offered Allen a two-year deal worth $12 million.
