When Aaron Hernandez rolled to the turf in the first quarter of the Patriots' loss to the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon, most people watching knew he wouldn't be hopping up and walking this one off.

But ever since Hernandez first hurt his right ankle, the news has gotten better. An X-ray on Sunday revealed that the ankle was not broken.

On Monday, the possibility of the valuable Patriots tight end being sidelined for an extended time was also ruled out, according to ESPNBoston.com.

Hernandez will be out for a few weeks with what is most likely a high ankle sprain, according to reports. While the Patriots will have to adjust to playing without him for a few games, he will most likely be back in October.

Patriots Coach Bill Belichick did not have much to say about the injury Monday.

"I don't really have any update on his status," he said, according to The Associated Press. "I think they're still looking at him."

Hernandez was wearing a walking boot when he left Gillette Stadium on Sunday and has been ruled out at least for next Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPNBoston.com.
