Swiss Goalkeeper Scores Best Goal in 'Keeper History With 80-Yard Bomb (Video)Dominique Niederhauser won’t be remembered for his exploits in professional soccer, but the Swiss player set a new standard for goal-scoring excellence.

Niederhauser, a player for Swiss amateur club Dardania Lausanne, scored from 80-yards out in a recent game.

The amazing strike came during Dardania Lausanne’s 6-1 thrashing of Genolier-Begnins.

Niederhauser ran off his line to intercept through-ball, controlled it with his chest and then inspiration struck. He saw the opposing goalkeeper off his line, and decided to shoot — from distance.

The ball sailed toward the goal and floated in over the outstretched arms of the opposing goalkeeper.

It’s a rare thing for a goalkeeper to score. When it happens, it usually comes from a free kick, corner kick or penalty kick. There is the occasional wind-assisted own goal, but that doesn’t really count.

Niederhauser scored from open play, making the dreams of goalkeepers everywhere come true. Now, we have to do something about that celebration.
