Michael Vick Admits to Owning Dog, Says It's 'Important My Children Develop a Healthy Relationship with Animals'After being arrested in 2007 for his connection in a dog fighting ring in Virginia, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick admitted on Thursday that his family owns a dog.

Vick, who served 21 months in prison for his involvement in the ring, was not, at first, allowed to own a dog per his probation and supervised release. But, as of now, Vick is able to have a canine companion.

Earlier in October, a photo surfaced of Vick with his daughter at a table, with what appeared to be an open box of Milkbones on the table. The photo was quickly taken down and replaced with one without the mysterious red box.

But now, the QB is avoiding the PR sack and coming clean.

"I want to ensure that my children establish a loving bond and treat all
of God's creatures with kindness and respect," Vick said in an interview with TMZ.com.

"Our pet is well cared for
and loved as a member of our family. As a father, it is important to make sure my children develop a healthy relationship with animals," he added.

While Vick is allowed to own a dog, the question remains: should he be?
