The Red Sox' 2013 coaching staff is rounding into shape.
On Tuesday afternoon the Red Sox officially introduced John Farrell as the team's new manager on a three-year contract. And, by Tuesday evening, multiple reports had emerged indicating that Torey Lovullo — Farrell's first-base coach in Toronto — was set to become the team's bench coach.
Over the course of a Major League Baseball playing career that spanned a dozen years, the second baseman played for seven different teams. His most successful season came in 1993 with the California Angels, when he appeared in 116 games.
Since his playing career, Lovullo managed three different minor-league teams, including 2010 guiding the Pawtucket Red Sox. Additionally, Lovullo was one of several candidates to interview for the Red Sox' 2012 managerial opening which eventually went to Bobby Valentine.
