Daily Fantasy Golf Picks For PGA Championship: Jason Day, Phil Mickelson Lead Way

It’s been just over a week since Henrik Stenson out-dueled Phil Mickelson to win the British Open, but it’s already time for another golf major.

The PGA Championship takes over Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., this week for the final golf major of the year. Mickelson won the last PGA Championship at Baltusrol in 2005, but there are plenty of younger golfers ready to make history of their own this weekend.

So let’s take a look at the five golfers you should pick for your PGA Championship daily fantasy golf lineup.

Phil Mickelson
Mickelson has been hard to read so far this season. He missed the cut at the first two majors — the Masters and U.S. Open — and then he turned in a near-record performance before coming up just short against Stenson at the British Open. But Mickelson has one major thing going for him this week, and that’s experience. The five-time major winner won the 2005 PGA Championship at Baltusrol, and he’s coming in hot off a second-place finish at Royal Troon.

Jason Day
Day finally broke through with his first major win at the 2015 PGA Championship, and now he has a chance to defend his title this weekend. He hasn’t won another major since, although he has three victories this season, including The Players Championship. He’s only missed one cut in 2016, so he should be in contention, at the very least.

Dustin Johnson
Day is the No. 1 golfer, but no one has been hotter on the PGA Tour this summer than Johnson. DJ won his first major at the U.S. Open after years of close calls, and he followed that with a victory at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational. He’s finished ninth or better in each of his last six starts, and there’s no reason why that number shouldn’t increase to seven this weekend.

Rory McIlroy
McIlroy is a two-time PGA Championship winner, and things are setting up well for him to add title No. 3 to that list. Yes, McIlroy missed the cut at the U.S. Open, but that was sandwiched between two top fives at the Memorial and British Open. He has six top 10s and nine top 25s in his 13 PGA Tour events this season, and that model of consistency is something daily fantasy golf players love to see.

Branden Grace
Grace might scare a few daily fantasy golf players away after coming in a tie for 72nd at the British Open, but he’s still worth a spot in your PGA Championship lineup. Grace came in third at the 2015 PGA Championship, and he’s finished in the top 10 in five of his last seven Tour events, including a win at the RBC Heritage.
