Halladay, Lincecum Named All-Star Starters

Halladay, Lincecum Named All-Star Starters The starting pitchers for Tuesday night’s All-Star Game were announced Monday, with Roy Halladay getting the nod for the American League and Tim Lincecum getting the start for the National League, sportsnet.ca reports.

Halladay, who was beaten by the Rays in his last start, is 10-3 with a 2.85 ERA this season. Lincecum, who carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his last start, is 10-2 with a 2.33 ERA.

In the AL, Halladay beat out Kansas City’s Zack Greinke, who was the most likely alternative with a 10-5 record and a 2.12 ERA. Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield lead the AL in wins, but Beckett pitched on Sunday and Wakefield’s ERA is 4.31.

In the NL, Lincecum got the call over 11-game winner Jason Marquis and Johan Santana, who is 10-7 with a 3.09 ERA. Dan Haren has the lowest ERA of NL starters at 2.01.
