Jets Tight End Slot Now Bubba-less

The New York Jets now have one less tight end on their roster.

Rex Ryan and Co. released 10-year veteran Bubba Franks on Monday, after re-signing him on May 12.

Franks may have been considered expendable because of last year’s emergence of Dustin Keller, who became one of Brett Favre’s favorite receiving options.

Kareem Brown, Jack Simmons and J’Nathan Bullock fill out the Jets’ tight end depth chart with Keller.

Franks only caught six passes for 47 yards in eight games for the
Jets in 2008. If nothing else, they lose one of the best names in
football.
