LaRoche to Make Red Sox Debut on Saturday Adam LaRoche will make his Red Sox debut on Saturday against the Orioles and starter Jeremy Guthrie. LaRoche will start at first base and bat seventh in the order.

Traded to the Red Sox on Wednesday from the Pirates, LaRoche hit .247 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs in 87 games for the Pirates this season. He played two-plus seasons with the Pirates after spending the first three years of his career with the Braves.

Laroche, 29, is a left-handed hitting first basemen and son of former major league pitcher Dave LaRoche. He is a career .269 hitter with 123 home runs and 426 RBIs in 775 games.
