The Bruins didn’t win the Stanley Cup this year, but it’s coming to Boston anyway.

Pittsburgh’s Brooks Orpik, a Boston College
graduate, will bring the Cup to Conte Forum on Sunday, July 19, for a
photo opportunity and autograph-signing session, with all proceeds
benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Shea Room.
Fans are encouraged to donate $5 to the Boys & Girls Clubs,
although a donation is not required.

The 28-year-old defensemen spent three seasons at the Heights
(1998-2001) before signing with the Penguins. He registered 41 points
in 119 games for the Eagles en route to two Hockey East Tournament
titles (in 1998 and 2001) and the 2001 national championship.

During the 2009 season, Orpik played in 79 games for the Penguins
and tallied two goals and 17 assists for 19 points with a plus-10
rating. Throughout his entire six-year NHL career, he has played in 376
games, registering six goals and 49 assists.

Orpik is one of three former Eagles to play on the Penguins’ 2009 championship team; he joins Rob Scuderi (who also won a title with BC in 2001) and Bill Guerin.

Orpik’s younger brother, Andrew, is also a former Eagle and was part of BC’s 2008 national championship squad.
