Rangers Closer Francisco Placed on DL With Pneumonia The good news for the Rangers? Frank Francisco's throwing shoulder is A-OK.

The bad news? He's still going back on the disabled list.

The closer is suffering from a mild case of pneumonia and has been placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to July 11, the Dallas Morning News reports.

"It hit him hard on Sunday," manager Ron Washington told MLB.com. "We want to keep him from being around these other guys."

Without Francisco Monday night against the Red Sox, C.J. Wilson earned his eighth save of the year with a perfect 1 1/3 innings.

Francisco was among the league leaders in saves earlier in the season before shoulder problems twice sent him to the disabled list. Wilson has served as a worthy fill-in, converting eight saves and eight holds with just two blown saves.
