Streaking Bay Continues to Swing a Hot Bat for Red Sox The Red Sox needed someone to step up after the putrid performance in the Bronx last weekend. Despite recently returning from an injury, left fielder Jason Bay was the man to do it.

Bay smashed a solo shot in the series opener on Monday night against the Tigers and followed that up with a three-run shot to tie things up in the second inning of Tuesday’s wild win.

On Wednesday, Bay kept things rolling by not only smacking a homer in his third straight game, but by reaching base all five times he came to the plate. He went 3-for-3 with a homer, two doubles and two walks.

In the first three games of the four-game series, Bay has posted six hits, three homers, six RBIs and four runs scored against MoTown. His third-inning homer extended his hitting streak to seven games during which he is hitting .435 (10-for-23) with four homers, seven RBIs and six runs scored.

The three-game homer streak is the third of his career, the last time being from Sept. 7-9 last season. While with Pittsburgh in 2006, Bay had a six-game homer streak from May 22-28.
