Big Papi Welcomes Reddick to the Big Leagues It may not sound like it, but a towel full of shaving cream to the face is the ultimate compliment and sign of acceptance an MLB rookie can receive from his teammates.

Rookie outfielder Josh Reddick not only picked up his first career big league hit on Saturday night in Baltimore, the 22-year-old was able to rip a pair of doubles in Boston’s 4-0 win.

As Reddick spoke with NESN’s Heidi Watney following the 4-0 shutout win over the O’s, designated hitter David Ortiz pulled the most classic prank in the game. The rookie wasn’t fazed by the gag and was able to finish his interview like a true professional. Needless to say, it was a memorable night for the kid from Savannah, Ga.
