The deal is really a six-year, $97.5 million extension which goes through the 2015 season. While it isn't the largest deal in NFL history, the average of $15.27 million per year is a new high for the NFL, and the deal will include $35 million of guaranteed money.
After leading the Giants to victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, Manning followed it up by making the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career last season. He completed 60.3 percent of his passes in 2008 for 3,238 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. In only four seasons as a full-time starter, the Giants have reached the postseason ever single season under Manning.
The contract makes Eli the eighth $100 million quarterback in NFL history, joining Brett Favre, Drew Bledsoe, Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, Michael Vick, Carson Palmer and Ben Roethlisberger.
