Ellsbury to Start Friday Night Against Blue Jays Despite leaving Thursday night's 9-5 loss to the White Sox in the fifth inning, Red Sox leadoff hitter Jacoby Ellsbury is penciled into Terry Francona's lineup card for Friday night's contest with the Blue Jays.

Ellsbury suffered a high-ankle sprain when he slid into the shin pad of ChiSox catcher A.J. Pierzynski to end the fifth frame. After the game, Francona was confident that the injury wasn't too serious.

"I don't think it's anything serious," Francona said in his news conference following the loss. "We're certainly going to check with him tomorrow. I don't think it will be anything more than a nagging thing, and I'm glad we took him out. Got some ice on it, got it treated, and I'm hopeful that it'll be fine."

Ellsbury is the brand new owner of Boston's all-time single season steals record. He swiped his franchise-best 55th bag on Tuesday night to pass Tommy Harper's 1973 record of 54.
