Lowrie Goes Deep in PawSox Win

Shortstop Jed Lowrie wasted no time proving his health on his latest rehab assignment as the 24-year-old hit a homer in his first game with the PawSox.

“I feel great. I feel stronger,” the infielder told projo.com. “I feel like I’m giving myself the best chance to play out the remainder of the year.”

Lowrie went hitless from the right side of the dish during his first two at-bats before switching over to the left side and launching a solo homer off reliever Joe Bisenius in the sixth inning to tie things up at 1-1. Pawtucket went on to win the contest 3-2.

“Just watching him out there today, I was really impressed,” manager Ron Johnson said. “He looks mentally and physically like he’s ready to take on being a player again. Not that he wasn’t before, but watching him today, if he stays like that, we all know he’s a good player.”
