The 2009 major league debut of Pedro Martinez will be Wednesday night in the Windy City.
The 37-year-old righty will face the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel told The Associated Press.
In three rehab starts in the minors, Martinez went 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA, but struck out 11 batters in his last start.
Martinez pitched in 20 games last season for the Mets, putting up disappointing numbers (5-6, 5.61 ERA). In 2007, he appeared in just five games. In his career, he is 214-99 with a 2.91 ERA and 3,117 strikeouts.
