Smoltz Signs With Cardinals

John Smoltz will have another chance at winning a World Series this season. Smoltz and the St. Louis Cardinals reached an agreement on a deal on Wednesday that will bring the 42-year old right-hander to St. Louis, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Smoltz was released by the Red Sox on Monday after being designated for assignment on Aug. 7. He is expected to have a chance to start, though reports said he would work out of the bullpen.

Smoltz was 2-5 with an 8.32 ERA in eight starts for the Red Sox this season. He is the only pitcher in baseball history to win 200 games and record 150 saves.
