Celtics Name Tyronn Lue Director of Basketball Development

The Celtics announced the hiring of former NBA point guard Tyronn Lue as the team's director of basketball development on Friday, WEEI.com reports.

A two-time champion with the Lakers in 2000 and 2001, Lue will assist the coaching staff and observe practices. His first day with the Celtics was on Friday at the team's practice facility in Waltham.

Lue played 11 seasons in the NBA with the Lakers, Wizards, Magic, Rockets, Hawks, Mavericks and Bucks. In 554 career games, he averaged 8.5 points per game and 3.1 assists.
