Dolphins’ Ted Ginn Jr. Axed From First Team in Wednesday’s Practice

Will Ted Ginn Jr. be in or out of the Dolphins’ starting lineup come Sunday?

He’s not saying, but by all indications, he may be out.

The ninth overall draft pick in the 2007 draft hasn’t spoken to the media since a poor performance against the Saints in Week 7, and during Wednesday’s practice, he didn’t line up with the Dolphins’ first team.

Head coach Tony Sparano insists the change is nothing that should cause concern.

“Just shuffling some things around in practice, doing some of those things, just make sure everybody is on their toes,” he told ESPN.com.

Against the Saints, Ginn dropped three passes, including one that deflected into the hands of New Orleans safety Darren Sharper, who returned it 42 yards for a touchdown. In 2009, he has 18 catches for 211 yards and a single touchdown.

When asked whether the Ohio State standout has lost his starting job, Sparano only said, “We’ll see where we are at the end of the week. I’m just kind of upsetting the whole apple cart, and let’s see how this thing goes. I don’t want to say yes, I don’t want to say no right now.” 

Lining up with the first team in Ginn’s place was rookie wideout and fellow former Buckeye Brian Hartline, who finished with three receptions for 94 yards against the Saints on Sunday.
