Lester earned his 15th win of the season with 6 1/3 scoreless innings against the Indians on Thursday at Fenway Park. He allowed just two hits on 84 pitches, striking out seven and walking one.
After pitching to an 8-6 record in the first half of the season with a 3.87 ERA, Lester went 7-2 with a 2.82 ERA in the second half and held opponents to a .224 batting average.
In what was Lester’s final start of the regular season, the left-hander certainly cleared any doubts about his health following the scary incident at Yankee Stadium, and further proved he is worthy of taking the ball in a Game 1 situation for the Red Sox in the postseason.
