The Yankees were without closer Mariano Rivera in their workouts this week, though the team is saying the absences were not due to anything physical, the New York Post reports.
“It’s nothing physical,” GM Brian Cashman told the Post. “It was for personal reasons, and he will be here [for Game 1].”
The report says that the personal matter is “nowhere near as serious as in 2004, when a relative was electrocuted in Panama.”
He did throw about 25 pitches off a mound on Wednesday before leaving the team.
