So much for those trade talks with the Ravens.

The Patriots released veteran wide receiver Joey Galloway on Tuesday, according to the team's official Twitter page.

The Patriots also released tight end Michael Matthews.

Galloway was signed in the offseason as the No. 3 receiver on the Patriots, but he struggled to find an impactful role. He made seven catches for 63 yards, yet he's been inactive for each of the last three games since dropping a number of passes in a win over Atlanta.

The 37-year-old is a 15-year veteran with 77 career touchdowns split from his days in Seattle, Dallas and Tampa Bay.

Matthews was used primarily as a blocking tight end and had not made any receptions this season. He made just eight catches in his two seasons with the Giants.
