Bruins’ Mikko Lehtonen Assigned to Providence

Mikko Lehtonen's stay in Boston was short, sweet and sad.

After the Bruins lost in a shootout to the Canadiens on Thursday night — and were almost shut out for the third consecutive night — the forward was assigned to Providence on Friday.

Lehtonen was recalled to Boston on Wednesday and made his 2009-10 debut in the loss to Montreal.

In 11 games for the P-Bruins this season, Lehtonen has notched three goals and seven assists for 10 points with 25 penalty minutes. Last season, he led Providence with 28 goals and finished fourth overall in scoring with 53 points in 72 games.

The Bruins selected the Finland native in the third round of the 2005 draft.
