Chargers Release Wide Receiver Chris Chambers Wide receiver Chris Chambers was waived by the San Diego Chargers on Monday, making the nine-year veteran a free agent.

Chambers, who was picked up by the Bolts late in the 2007 season in exchange for a second-round draft pick from Miami, has 53 career receiving touchdowns including one this season. The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder had a pair of 11-touchdown seasons during his six-plus year career with the Dolphins and has 10 total touchdown receptions in 31 career contests with San Diego.

The 2001 second-round pick out of Wisconsin has seen less and less action with the emergence of Malcolm Floyd. Head coach Norv Turner said the Chargers released the wide receiver because of the team's need to sign a linebacker after the loss of injured Tim Dobbins over the weekend.

Chambers must clear waivers in order to play for another team. Each team will have chance to claim him by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
