Jets Cornerback Donald Strickland Calls Mark LeVoir’s Hit a ‘Cheap Shot’

Donald Strickland should’ve just hoped that everyone would forget about the fact that he got laid out by the Patriots’ backup left tackle in the Jets’ 31-14 loss on Sunday.

Instead, the New York cornerback is choosing to bring this illustrious moment back into the limelight by insisting it was a cheap shot:

Strickland sustained a concussion after taking that hit from New England’s Mark LeVoir, who switched from right tackle to left tackle after Sebastian Vollmer went down with a head injury. According to Nj.com, Strickland said the helmet-to-helmet hit was poor form.

“I think it was a real cheap shot,” he told the Web site. “He really didn’t have to go at my head like that, especially with the NFL’s precaution about helmet-to-helmet contact.”

Strickland did not return to the field after taking the hit.

“It happened,” he continued. “It was a block and he took advantage of it. But I guarantee you the next time we play them it’s going to be a different story. I’m making a point of emphasis to retaliate. That’s the way I feel.”

Ladies and gentlemen, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Strickland squares off against the 6-foot-7, 310-pound LeVoir. Can’t wait to see how this one ends.
