Bruins Sign Tuukka Rask to Extension

The Boston Bruins signed goaltender Tuukka Rask to an extension on Thursday.

The deal will have Rask with the Bruins through the 2011-12 season.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though the report estimates Rask will cost the Bruins roughly $1.3 million per season.

Rask, 22, has played in nine NHL games in parts of three seasons, going 5-2-2 with a 2.43 GAA and .917 save percentage. This is his first season as a full-fledged backup, and he's gone 2-1-1 in four starts. In 102 games in the AHL, Rask compiled a 60-33-6 record to go with his 2.43 GAA and .906 save percentage.
