Brian Anderson is heading back to the AL Central, as the longtime White Sox outfielder has agreed to a one-year, $700,000 deal with the Kansas City Royals.

The 27-year old, who played in 21 games for the Red Sox and 65 for the White Sox in 2009, can make an additional $100,000 in performance bonuses.

Anderson was added to the Red Sox roster via a July 28 trade that sent Mark Kotsay to the White Sox. Anderson hit .294 with two homers and five RBIs in 17 at-bats. The five-year veteran became a free agent when Boston failed to offer him a contract by the Dec. 12 deadline.

He owns a .227 average with 22 homers and 80 RBIs in 355 career games.
