Report: Marlins Offer Aroldis Chapman Five-Year Deal

The offers for Cuban pitcher Aroldis Chapman keep coming in. The Marlins have now joined the bidding for the Cuban defector, offering a five-year deal worth $13 million, the Miami Herald reports.

Chapman, 21, worked out for a group of teams last Tuesday in Houston, and as many as 20 teams have inquired about the left-handed phenom with the supposed 102-mph fastball.

Chapman is expected to begin the season in Double-A wherever he signs, but the general consensus is that he is close to being ready for the majors.

The Red Sox were previously reported to have made a $15.5 million offer for Chapman.
