Report: Yankees Hoping to Add New Starting Pitcher by New Year Yankees general manager Brian Cashman may have added Curtis Granderson to his 2010 lineup, but the wish list for the world champs still includes a starting pitcher, according to the New York Post.

A report by the Post’s Mike Puma on Monday insists that Cashman has inquired about Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano. The Yanks are looking for a fourth hurler to come in behind CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Andy Pettitte, and if they fail to land Zambrano via trade, they could find one in the free-agent pool that includes Joel Pineiro and Ben Sheets.

According to the report, the Cubs’ asking price for Zambrano — who was injured in 2009 — is very high. The Cubs hurler has a full no-trade clause and is set to earn over $53 million over the next three seasons.
