Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo Named All-Star Reserves

In addition to Kevin Garnett, who was voted by fans to start, the Celtics will have two additional representatives in the NBA All-Star Game as Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce were named as reserves Thursday for the Eastern Conference squad.

"There's going to come a day that they don't pick me," Pierce told The Associated Press. "So every time I get a chance to make it, it's definitely an honor."

Whether they will participate in All-Star Saturday is still up in the
air, although Pierce has indicated he wants another shot at the 3-point
contest, which he participated in during the 2002 festivities. Rondo
could be asked to play in the Skills Challenge.

Participants in All-Star Saturday should be confirmed within the next week.

This will be Rondo's first All-Star selection and Pierce's eighth.

Joining Rondo in their first All-Star game will be Atlanta's Al Horford, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Charlotte's Gerald Wallace, Memphis' Zach Randolph, Chicago's Derrick Rose and Utah's Deron Williams. In total, there are seven first-time selections.

The rest of the Western Conference reserves are New Orleans' Chris Paul, Portland's Brandon Roy, the Lakers' Pau Gasol and Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki.
