Aroldis Chapman's decision to sign with the Reds disappointed many Red Sox fans who were hoping to see the Cuban phenom work his magic in Fenway Park, but a new report suggests that that possibility was never going to happen.

The Red Sox, who reportedly offered Chapman a $15.5 million contract, pulled that offer when Chapman switched agents, according to WEEI.com.

The switch came in November, when Chapman left agent Edwin Mejia and signed with Alan and Randy Hendricks.

The Red Sox were reported to have had a scout watching Chapman throw in Houston in mid-December, but apparently did not see enough from the 22-year-old to make a big offer.
