Report: Yankees Still in Running to Sign Rocco Baldelli

Despite the acquisition of Randy Winn, the Yankees are expected to sign a right-handed outfielder to a minor-league contract, the New York Post reports. One player the team is considering is former Red Sox outfielder Rocco Baldelli.

The Yankees reportedly are concerned with Winn’s struggles against left-handed pitching. Winn hit .158 and posted a .384 OPS against left-handers last season.

The 28-year-old Baldelli hit .253 in 62 games for the Red Sox in 2009, while posting a .780 OPS against left-handed pitchers.

The Yankees also are believed to be considering Jonny Gomes and Marcus Thames.
