Report: Celtics on Verge of Acquiring Nate Robinson

The Nate Robinson-to-Boston rumors could become reality soon.

Newsday’s Alan Hahn reports via Twitter that the Celtics are close to acquiring point guard Nate Robinson from the New York Knicks in exchange for Eddie House and a draft pick.

Hahn tweeted earlier that the teams are hoping to introduce a third club to the talks, because some money will likely need to change hands, and Robinson’s $4 million expiring contract includes base year compensation.

The 25-year-old Robinson figures to assume a backup guard role for the Celtics, behind Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen.

Robinson is averaging 13.2 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in a little over 24 minutes per game for Mike D’Antoni.
