Steve Novak has been promoted to assistant athletics director/development at Boston College, athletics director Gene DeFilippo announced Wednesday. Novak replaces Jim Paquette, who was named athletics director at Loyola University in Maryland on Feb. 17.

Novak joined the Boston College athletics office in 2001 as an intern, and has since worked as a development assistant and later as assistant and associate director of development. His experience made him an ideal candidate to fill the opening left by Paquette’s departure.

“Steve is a very impressive young man and has done a tremendous job in our athletics development office,” DeFilippo said.  “We were extremely fortunate to have the right person for this position already within our department.”

Novak is a native of Plainfield, N.J. He graduated from Drew University in 2000, and earned a MS in sports management from UMass Amherst in 2001.

“I am grateful for this wonderful opportunity to continue to serve Boston College and advance its mission in support of its student-athletes,” Novak said.
