John Lackey is set to make his Red Sox debut Saturday afternoon as the Red Sox host the Twins in a split-squad contest in Fort Myers, Fla.
While Lackey takes the hill against Minnesota, Felix Doubront will take on the Rays in Port Charlotte, Fla. The lefty will be backed by starters Marco Scutaro, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis and Adrian Beltre. The Rays will send Andy Sonnanstine to the hill to face the Red Sox and their biggest offseason addition.
Lackey, meanwhile, will have Luis Exposito as a battery mate and Mike Cameron, J.D. Drew and David Ortiz backing him up in the split-squad lineup. Starting for the Twins will be southpaw Francisco Liriano.
Two starters — Victor Martinez and Jacoby Ellsbury — appear to have the day off.
