Johnny Damon Says He Can Now Wear Red Sox World Series Ring

Johnny Damon was an instrumental part of the Red Sox' 2004 World Series run, but the veteran outfielder said that the celebration had to be cut short — at least in terms of his jewelry.

When Damon headed south on I-95 in 2006 to join the Yankees, he packed up his World Series ring and kept it off his finger. Now a member of the Tigers, he said he's been flashing his Red Sox ring.

"I started wearing it this past offseason after I knew I wasn't coming back to New York," Damon told the New York Post. "I was in New York for four years and I couldn't wear it then."

The 36-year-old said he won't have a similar hiatus with the ring that he earned this past October with the Yankees.

"I am going to wear them both," he told the Post. "There aren't too many guys with rings from each team."
