Tuukka Rask Named NHL's Third Star of the Week Tuukka Rask was named as the NHL's Third Star of the Week on Monday after posting a 2-1-0 record, 0.55 goals-against average and .977 save percentage for the Boston Bruins.

Rask was given the honor behind First Star Jaroslav Halak and Second Star Saku Koivu.

Rask's week began in a relief effort against the Buffalo Sabres. The 23-year-old Finn entered Monday's game with the Bruins in a 3-1 hole. Though Rask was perfect for all of his 33 minutes in the crease, the Bruins' offense couldn't tie the game as the B's eventually lost 3-2.

Rask kept the shutout streak alive the following night in New Jersey, as he turned away 21 shots from the Devils and earned his fifth shutout of the year and second in a span of one week. In his next outing, Rask allowed just one goal on 20 shots, but again the offense struggled to score and the Bruins lost 1-0.

The Bruins bounced back behind Rask on Saturday night in Toronto with an overtime victory. Rask allowed an early goal but held his ground thereafter, finishing the night with 27 saves on 28 shots.

The effort from Rask was enough to keep the Bruins in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race, and it was enough to pick up the honor from the league.
