It’s going to be a big weekend in sports — especially in Boston — but it’s also a big Friday for science fiction fans.
The trailer for J.J. Abrams‘ new movie, Super 8, was released at midnight to much fanfare from the sci-fi community. As it turns out, the trailer could be a good indicator of what this weekend could bring in Boston.
The trailer shows a train wreck that releases some potentially dangerous, unknown things into the world. Consider the possibilities that could break out in Boston this weekend:
The Red Sox and Yankees meet at Fenway Park. That’s always guaranteed to be a volatile environment.
The Bruins could sweep the Flyers in Philadelphia. Nothing would make a better statement to the remaining teams in the East than a dominant sweep of a tough Philly team.
The Celtics host LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. If the Celtics can build a lead in this series, they could demoralize the emotional Cavs.
Whatever happens is unknown, but check out the trailer at the bottom of this post for a preview of what’s to come.

Comment of the day
Some people think the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry is dead. Not this fan.
“Um. Do I get any work done on days when the Sox play the Yankees? Nope. So has the Sox/Yanks rivalry lost anything?? Nope. Especially not now that the Yankees won the WS last year.”
