Taylor Hall Named Memorial Cup MVP for Second Straight Year

Windsor forward Taylor Hall enhanced his resume even more on Sunday by leading the Spitfires with a goal and two assists in their 9-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in the 92nd Memorial Cup title match.

The 18-year-old captured the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as tournament MVP for the second straight season, becoming the first player to do so since the award was presented back in 1972.

Hall led the tournament with five goals and nine points in four games, which earned him the Ed Chynoweth Trophy as top scorer. Both Hall and defenseman Cam Fowler were selected to the Memorial Cup All-Star team at the conclusion of the tournament on Sunday.

"Guys who have been named MVP will tell you, and it's true, that you can't do it without your teammates," Hall told the Windsor Star. "[Linemates Adam Henrique and Justin Shugg] were great all week. It's been a dream season — it's a special team."
