In an All-Star Game dominated by pitching, it was a catcher who shined the brightest.

Braves catcher Brian McCann was named the All-Star Game MVP after his three-run double keyed the NL's 3-1 victory. The win was the NL's first since 1996.

McCann stepped to the plate with two outs in the top of the seventh with the NL trailing 1-0 when he hit the go-ahead double. McCann drilled a line drive down the right field line clearing the bases and giving the NL the 3-1 lead on the way to securing the MVP trophy.

McCann pumped his fist once getting to second base while Scott Rolen, Matt Holliday and Marlon Byrd all crossed the plate for the Senior Circuit.

"You dream about moments like this as a kid," McCann said after the game. "This is just something I'll always remember."

The night was even more special for McCann with his parents in the stands and his pregnant wife watching from home.
