To be sure, I always noticed that the “hockey guys” did well in college.
They were down to earth, always partying, and obviously big, athletic dudes, but the streak of NHL players linking up with some of the world’s most sought-after women has spiraled out of control.
First off, former Dallas Stars legend Mike Modano is married to Willa Ford.
And then there is fellow pop star and former teen idol Hilary Duff, who is with Mike Comrie. She may have started out as an awkward junior higher on Lizzie McGuire, but she grew up well.
Fellow teen idol, Candace Cameron of Full House fame, is married to former NHLer Valeri Bure, and his brother, Pavel, has also been in on the action. Pavel is married to Russian model Alina Khasanova. Earlier, he was linked to model and “tennis star” Anna Kournikova.
Sergei Federov, though it has never been confirmed, claims to have been married to Kournikova from 2001 to 2003.
The list of supermodels goes on as former NHL superstar Petr Nedved was married to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition staple and fellow Czech Veronika Varekova, and Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray is married to model and former Baywatch regular Angelica Bridges.
Jarret Stoll of the Los Angeles Kings has been very successful as well, being engaged to Rachel Hunter before dating David Cassidy‘s daughter and Melrose Place star Katie Cassidy.
Last, but certainly not least, how could we forget about Jack Bauer‘s daughter, Elisha Cuthbert, who not only dated Sean Avery, but is currently with Toronto Maple Leafs star Dion Phaneuf. As a result of the switch, Avery controversially said that Phaneuf was getting his “sloppy seconds.” Avery promptly got suspended.
Who knows who is going to be next on the list? Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson are married, but you never know …
