Red Sox-Themed Mickey Mouse Overcoming Injuries to Appear at All-Star FanFest

The injury situation for the Red Sox is pretty dire, and that extends all the way to Santa Ana, Calif.

It was there that a Red Sox-themed statue of Mickey Mouse was placed, along with other teams’ Mickey Mouse statues throughout Southern California, in order to help promote next week’s All-Star Game in Anaheim.

At least one Californian, however, wasn’t a fan of the Red Sox, as the statue was brutally assaulted with a baseball bat in late June. At the time of the attack, MLB officials were unsure if the Red Sox Mickey would make its way back to its spot in front of the Discovery Science Center, but this week, Mickey had a breakthrough.

Perhaps symbolic of the Red Sox’ ability to stay afloat despite their injuries, Red Sox Mickey will come off the DL this weekend at All-Star FanFest. He’ll be bandaged and sporting an ice pack, but as the old saying goes, you can try to assault a giant Mickey Mouse statue with a Red Sox theme, but you can’t keep it from showing up at FanFest.
