Report: Celtics Seeking Josh Howard in Free Agency

On the day that they lost Tony Allen to the Grizzlies, the Celtics are looking to add to their roster.

According to Yahoo, the C's have "serious interest" in free agent Josh Howard. The report notes that if the Celtics were to add Howard, it would have to be through a sign-and-trade, after the team used its midlevel exception to sign Jermaine O'Neal.

Howard, 30, was an All-Star with the Mavericks in 2007, but he suffered a serious left knee injury this past March and missed the remainder of the season. In his seven seasons, the small forward averaged 15.3 points, six rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. If he were to join the Celtics, he could serve Allen's vacated role as Paul Pierce's backup.
