Report: Jhonny Peralta Traded to Tigers for Giovanni Soto

The Cleveland Indians have traded third baseman Jhonny Peralta to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for minor league pitcher Giovanni Soto, according to Anthony Castrovince of Indians.com.

Peralta, 28, is hitting just .246 with seven homers and 43 RBIs this season. He's a career .264 hitter, and he averaged 18 homers per season from 2005-09.

Soto, 19, is 6-6 with a 2.61 ERA in 82 2/3 innings for the Single-A West Michigan Whitecaps this season.
