Report: Miami Heat Want Doc Rivers to Coach in 2011

Doc Rivers may be the most qualified man on the planet to coach a trio of superstars, so it shouldn't come as a major surprise that the Miami Heat are reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

"[For Heat coach Erik Spoelstra] to keep his job, he’ll probably have to win it all, especially because [Heat president Pat] Riley has his eye on Doc Rivers to someday coach the Heat," wrote Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. "Rivers has one year left on his Celtics contract, and has been heavily affected by the distance between him and his family still living in Orlando."

The will-he-or-won't-he saga of LeBron James this offseason only came after that of Rivers, who very seriously contemplated walking away from the final year of his contract. His decision to return to the Celtics' bench was aided in part to his increased ability to fly home to be with his family, so the idea of him moving closer to home isn't a wild one.

Don't expect an answer to the rumor from Rivers any time soon.
