Patriots Rival Jack Tatum Dies at 61

Former Oakland Raiders defensive back Jack "The Assasin" Tatum has died.

Tatum, famous for delivering painful blows to opposing players, died of a heart attack on Tuesday.

Tatum hit with such force that he often injured wide receivers. He was especially hated by New England fans after delivering a blow to Patriots receiver Darryl Stingley during a 1978 exhibition game, leaving Stingley paralyzed.

Tatum was an All-American at Ohio State and made three Pro Bowls during his 10-year NFL career.

In recent years, Tatum’s health deteriorated. He suffered from diabetes and had his right leg amputated because of an arterial blockage.
